The short story...

Patrick, Susan, Caiden, and Ryleigh are heading to Tennessee! They are partnering with Grace Reformed Church to plant a confessional, reformed church in the revitalizing city of Columbia. Patrick will also be joining with Theocast to encourage weary pilgrims in the broader church to rest in Christ. Thank you taking the time to see how the Lord has brought this together, why we’re excited about it, and how you can be a part of it.

How did this come together?

Patrick has long had a growing desire to be involved in church planting. He got connected with Jon through the ministry of Theocast. Jon and Grace Reformed Church have become increasingly aware of the need for a reformed, Gospel-proclaiming church in Columbia to their south. Those things together have led us to Columbia to partner to plant this needed church.

The Plan

We will begin by getting integrated into the community, helping Grace Reformed Church continue to move forward, and cultivating the core for the Columbia plant. We will be starting a home group and Bible studies in the city with the intent to to launch services within our first year. At that point, my role with Grace Reformed Church will fade and the focus will be cultivating the new church in Columbia. Our prayer is that year three will see us become self-sustaining. Throughout this time, Patrick will be working with Theocast to point the broader church toward their rest in Christ.

Your Support

Your partnership through prayer and by investing financially is essential for this work to go forward. We are looking to raise $7,500 per month over the next 2-3 years. This is the target we need to hit in order to support our family and pay for church expenses through the launch and early life of the church plant while we work towards being self-sustaining. We hope you consider investing in this work to advance the gospel.

Why Plant a Church?

The local church is central to God's redemptive mission in our sin-broken world. Church planting is the expansion of that mission by establishing a new community to proclaim- to each other and the world around us- the good news of Jesus' finished work for us. We are so thrilled to be able to be part of a new outpost that proclaims the grace of God in Christ to the world.

Why Columbia?

Columbia is a revitalizing city about 40 miles south of Nashville that has a very real spiritual need. Christians in Columbia have been reaching out to Grace Reformed Church to express the need for a faithful church in their city. Less than a quarter of Columbians identify with a Christian denomination that might preach the true gospel, and the city is growing rapidly as the growth of Nashville spills over into the surrounding communities. Columbians are in need of a faithful witness to the grace of God in Christ, and that need is growing.

Why Theocast?

Theocast strives to help the weary find rest in Christ by keeping the good news of Jesus' work for us central and clear. We have been blessed and encouraged by this ministry over the years and are so glad to be able to serve the church by helping Theocast get that message out.
