God calls us to be wise and plan when undertaking an endeavor. Yet he also reminds us that he is sovereign over all things, including the building of His church. In light of those truths, we have put together a 3-year plan to help guide our efforts and help you to get a better idea of what our work will look like on the ground.
We are moving to the other side of the country for this work, so we will need to immediately invest in learning our city and its culture and getting integrated into life in Columbia. While that happens, I will be helping Grace Reformed Church grow and move forward while cultivating the core for the Columbia plant. I will also be taking on a growing role within Theocast to help that ministry move forward. My goal is to raise enough support to be able to lean into ministry full-time, but I will work bivocationally until we are at that point.
We hope to be ready to launch services after about a year of groundwork. My work with Theocast will continue, but my role with Grace Reformed Church will fade as my attention gets fully devoted to the plant.
Our goal will be for the church plant to become financially self-sustaining over the course of our third year. Theocast will continue to be part of the picture of our overall ministry.
In the Marine Corps, we have a saying that no plan survives first contact with the enemy. We do not know how God will work once we get on the ground and start the work. Things might speed up, slow down, or take turns we don’t expect. The nature of church planting requires flexibility and patience, but this planning will help us make better decisions as we learn along the way.
Thanks for going along with us for the ride- we could not even set out on this road without your prayers and support!
